Retail sales show resilience amidst high inflation rates.

While predictions were for retail trade sales to slow quite considerably, Stats SA’s latest retail trade sales figures released last Wednesday show there has only been a very small decrease in retail in April (A lower decrease rate than what was seen in February and March of this year), and that’s with a backdrop of recent high inflation, especially for food, transport and utilities, and depressed consumer sentiment.
