Nonkululeko Gobodo was first thrust into the spotlight as South Africa’s first black female Chartered Accountant (CA) in 1987. In her much-anticipated life story, Awakened… to my true self, Gobodo shares her experiences and the inconceivable trials and tribulations she traversed and conquered to become a CA and how she went on to build one of the country’s biggest and revered accounting firms, Sizwe Ntsaluba Gobodo, now known as SNG Grant Thornton.

Gobodo takes us through a myriad of complexities, such as marrying at age 17 with a child and having failed matric. She relays how she drew on
inspiration from her parents’ business struggles and recoveries, learning from their experiences that we can bounce back from adversity and should never give up on life, nor ourselves.
