Rand Water warns of wider system collapse

It is not only Johannesburg that is under strain. The City of Tshwane says it had been told by Rand Water to manage its water consumption. According to Rand Water the strain could lead to a “total system collapse”. “The system is currently below 30% and an immediate intervention is required prompting urgent shutdown of water supply to certain reservoirs in Tshwane,” the city said. Phemelo speaks to Rand Water’s Makenosi Maroo and Water Expert with the Centre for Environmental Management at the University of the Free State, Professor Anthony Turton.
